Will I be able to wear glasses if I get a lifeguarding job?

I have a dry eye problem and cannot wear contacts.

Life guarding policies vary widely. If you are looking to lifeguard near the ocean, the restrictions are much harder. If you're going to be lifeguarding at a pool, the glasses should not be a problem. I was a Red Cross certified lifeguard for several years. The tests involve swimming and endurance tests, plus skill test such as CPR and underwater rescues. There is also a written portion. None of these should be particularly affected by wearing classes.

If you do get a job, I would recommend buying a pair of prescription sunglasses. The glare off the pool can make it hard to see anyone who might be in trouble.

yeah as long as you can pass their tests. my friend has the same thing but he wears a special medication goggles thats the same as his glasses.

Yes.

You'll have to be able to pass the lifeguard certification test(s) without your glasses and you are not allowed to use goggles though. The reason is because when someone is drowning there is no time for you to put on glasses or goggles.

I'd be sure to check with the American Red Cross in your area though. Your state may have different standards and require you to have 20/20 vision.

i wouldnt wear them cuz if a kid is drowning then you would waste about 5 sec. taking the glasses off so you can dive into the water and save the kid and that could well kill the kid!
i dont know what to tell you but i also wouldnt go without glasses cuz then you wouldnt be able to see a drowning kid! yeah maybe life-guarding isnt your thing!
