Any girl out there ever go swimming on a honeymoon and slip off your swimsuit in the pool?

quick tips-Most swimmers will count how many strokes they take per length and aim to reduce the number of strokes by focusing on such elements as catch, pull through, and body rotation. This is an excellent way to improve your economy and efficiency through the water.

Back-The best advice I have for a crooked backstroke swimmer? It may seem obvious, but many of the swimmers I work with have to be reminded of this: find something to sight on while swimming - use your eyes to help you to swim straight backstroke. If you are swimming on your back in an indoor pool, it may be easier to swim backstroke in a straight line.
You can sight on something over head, like a seam or line in the ceiling.
You can look at something off to the side, like a bleacher railing or the line where the walls and the ceiling meet each other.

If you are swimming backstroke in an outdoor pool, it gets a little tougher to swim straight backstroke.
It is hard to avoid, but don't sight on clouds, birds, or a jet plane flying over the pool.

My friend and I want to take scuba diving lessons. But...?

Im on the Irvine Novaquatics, and I do competitive swimming.

TIPS:

Free- When you go off of the wall, do powerful dolphin kicks, at least out to the flags (this will help propell you through the water) then take one stroke without breathing, then take a breath on your next stroke. This will help with your lung capacity and it will expand your lungs. do this during EVERY practice, so it becomes natural. that way during a meet, you don't even have to think about it. As for the flip turns, make sure you snap your legs over when flipturning;flipturns are the key to a good break-out.

Backstroke- Make sure you know your stroke count; hitting the wall is NOT fun.

Breastroke- (my favorite) Keep your knees turned in and your heels out. STRETCH every day, even if you dont have practice to keep limber, it will make swimming a LOT easier.

Butterfly- Stay on TOP of the water. Sinking slows you down and makes you TIRED. Butterfly isn't hard; its just a lot of work, and if you have the correct technique, it will be SO much easier. Bring your arms out and around, and make sure they are insync. If they aren't coming out and around at the same time, You will be DQ'd (disqualified) at a meet.

GOOD LUCK!
hope i helped

Can u explain what is a "sink or swim situation"?

technique is probably the most important factor to swimming. as for myself, i have to admit that getting the right technique is really difficult. but i can provide you a few tips that my coach often reminds me:

freestyle: don't swing your arms. your arms should stay as close to the body as possible. your elbows should be relaxed and high, when you take a stroke.

backstroke: one of my worst strokes, haha. but your body should not be completely flat as you swim. as you take strokes, your body should be rotating., along with your arms. Also keep your arms close to your body-- your arms should be about 45 degrees when they start to pull.

breaststoke: my favorite event [= do not plow your arms under the water. a good drill to practice to keep your body near the surface of the water is breaststroke pulls with a flutter kick. your heels should be right above your butt when you kick. keep your knees closer together when you kick, and also, accelerate as you finish the kick. accelerate your arms as they come together.

butterfly: i can't say much about this stroke since i basically have the worst possible technique. however, remember for longer distances, you should breathe every stroke for the first 50s. that way, your muscles won't get tired as easily. for shorter distances, try to take less breaths. your chin should skin along the surface of the water, and your arms should be in a continuouis motion. do not bring your chest out of the water and lean your body forward to get farther, and not up. this will save a lot of energy. keep in mind to bring arms close to your body for ALL strokes.

diving off the block: if you already know how to dive off, it will be pretty much easy. just remember to bring your arms forward right when you jump off. but DO NOT swing your arms around your body in a circular motion. this wastes time and energy. also, bring your head up at the same time you bring your arms out. you are trying to go OUT not UP. lean your body forward, but not too much, or you will fall off!

flip turns: chin tucked. arms close. strong kick off the wall. fly kicks are stronger off the wall. streamline off the wall. do quick turns off the wall. once you are starting to head into your turn, immediately flip after your last stroke.

so i hope this helps. im a competitive swimmer, but of course i know my own weaknesses so i hope to share them with you for your benefit. good luck!

What is a good sport during the swimming off-season?

Butterfly: Have one of the more experienced (okay best) Butterflyer members on the team give you a detailed lesson. Ask the coach to point you in the right direction, do not be shy! Trust me this will save you so much time and effort later on.
3 pointers from my expertise- chin tucked, thumbs down on entry, key hole shape underwater with hands, and do a 1000 yards to break ya...

Breastroke: Have one of the more experienced (okay best) Breaststroker members on the team give you a detailed lesson. Ask the coach to point you in the right direction, do not be shy! Trust me this will save you so much time and effort later on.

Freestyle: You will get the most time to practice this stroke so no excuses. Perfect it. When you hear "practice your stroke work" DO IT! don't fool around like everyone else is going to be doing. kicking-do not bend your knees...work on flapping your ankles not the knees. arms- really bring those arms up and bend high at the elbows by your ear when practicing to accentuate that big reach and extention to come down and reach out...

Backstroke: Have one of the more experienced (okay best) BAckstroker members of the team give you a detailed lesson. Ask the coach to point you in the right direction, do not be shy! Trust me this will save you so much time and effort later on.

Flip turns: practice practice practice. when you are at the wall...BAM! POWER AND FLIP FAST!! MOVE! there is nothing slow about it. that is what you practice doing mk? i mean you swim at a fast steady pace to the wall and then suddenly your like gone when you flip it is that quick...before you hit that wall imagine what your going to do then do it..hopefully you have a basic flip turn down if not.they will show ya, but pretty much ya go to do a front roll but as your going to roll on the wall half way you turn side ways so you can get your legs on to the wall and push off to go into the "superman" and go back to swimming freestyle!

Starting block: this is where it all happens. for myself a very high percentage of swimming was focus...get up on the block...position yourself..walk down it a bit...steady...steady...go to the very tip of it...toes to the edge...stand up straight.look out ahead to the pool focus a minute and imagine the race and swim it and win it then come back to reality.then ..." on your marks." ...crouch down, chin to chest hands on front of starting block hanging on..relax..."get set." up a bit."bang" or "go!" ...head up, body out and push off and fly out and tuck head in and then out again and off you go!!!!!
