How is it that swimming is good for asthma?

Question:I have asthma (minor, but still, I have it), and I've been told that swimming is the best thing an asmatic can do.

Why is that? I know that all arobic exercises are good for your asthma but swimming seems to be the first things people tell you is good. So, why swimming as opposed to say, jogging or biking.

I'm just curious, considering starting a regular swimming workout. Thanks.

This is for people with Asthma:

Are some kinds of exercise worse than others?
Yes.

If you take different kinds of exercise so that you use the same amount of oxygen in each one, some will cause more wheeziness or chest tightness than others. Running outdoors will in general be worse than swimming. In fact swimming is one of the best forms of exercise for people with asthma because it usually causes the least amount of chest tightness. Running indoors on a treadmill, or cycling on an indoor exercise bike will come somewhere between outdoor running and swimming.

Other factors influence the amount of worsening of your breathing which you get from a particular form of exercise. Generally for example, if the air you breathe is cold and dry, the asthma will be worse. If it is warm and moist, the asthma will be less bad. This explains why swimming generally causes less asthma than outdoor running.

Are there any experienced Sciba Divers out there??

yea it makes ur lungs stronger

When snorkelling , a negative buoyancy is required ? is it true or flase. not to confuse you but i find that?

Because swimming works your lungs better than any other sport. This is due to being in the water and forced to hold your breath even if only for a few second but when done repeatedly can increase lung strength tremendously. Although many other forms of exercise can be aerobic (such as running) they do not work the lungs as hard as swimming.

How can you float without laying on the water but right side up?

My sister actually has asthma and she was told to keep on doing swimming. This is because in swimming you prepare your lungs to become stronger and expand them and it is one of the best things that an asmatic can do. Swimming is better for u rather than joggin or biking because u can pace yourself, but most importantly even though in swimming you are moving about every single muscles in your body it does not tire u so fast such as in joogging or biking. I sure thope this answered your question and I do recommend that u do swim!! Hope this helped=)

Answer this?

Swimming for asthma sounds questionable, you have a valid question. you have the kind of asthma that is triggered only by allergens. by avoiding that, you continue to be certified by your doctor as otherwise healthy. therefore nothing to worry about.

i would worry about E.I.A., though. Look it up before you start any workout.
