Do competitive swimmers drink protein shakes before dryland and/or swimming?

What is a good dryland workout for swimming?
Some do but most don't.Excessive muscles aren't required for swimming although they do help you get through the water faster. Protein shakes are more for American football / rugby players or weight lifters since they're the ones that need a lot of muscles.
But those swimmers who do drink the protein shakes have their reasons for drinking them, such as finding that they go faster through the water by just going all-out and not focusing on good technique. All swimmers have their different styles and things that they eat/drink to help them get better at swimming so it all really depends on the swimmer, not what's in the shake itself.

no! because they might get indigestionThis might just be personal, but if I eat anything within an hour before practice, I get sick and throw it back up. But, If I were to eat anything before a practice/ meets. It would be carbs. Pasta and bread and rice (Oh my!).
