After doing some general observations of my own and asking people about this I've concluded that people who are prone to motion sickness and don't have a strong stomach will be the most likely to suffer from stomach cramps after eating when they swim. This can be caused from the slushing of internal fluids inside the digestive system along with various chemical reactions that cause lots of pain. The exact cause of the cramps aren't known, but what we do know is that's it's better to go on the side of caution and not eat before swimming before we know how food will affect us when we swim.
