The advice that you can't loose weight by swimming is 100% false. In over 30 years of competitive swimming and coaching experience, I've never seen a swimmer who gains weight because of swimming. In fact, I've never met a swimmer who gained weight for any other reason than natural growth. Say from age 10 to 20.

How many overweight competitive swimmers are there? NONE! Yes swimming makes you hungry but you burn far more calories than you will additionally consume. You will be building muscle and burning fat and that is the goal.

I'm sorry I can't give you a specific workout without seeing you swim. If there is a local team in your area, this is the best place to get good training and you'll meet lots of friends that way. I joined a team when I was 12 and I still swim on one today. I'm 43.

There are numerous books out there that will meet your needs. Just a quick scan of Amazon, I found The Fit Swimmer by Marianne Brems. There are many others.

Start off easy. Don't overdo it. Build up your endurance and speed over time. Be as consistent as possible but most important of all, it should be fun.

How come women have to wear a full costume and men only wear trunks, its only skin after all?

if youre looking for weightloss, swimming is not your sport.

Not only does swimming jog your appetite, but it builds lean muscle, which will cause you to gain some weight as well.

If you want to lose weight you should probably take part in an activity such as walking, running, or sports that deal with those activities
