Wats the history of swimming?

A breastroke drill they teach kids is touch, elbow your friend and pick up the cell phone

what you do is.. you touch with both hands
- bring knees to chest as fast as you can ( this is what is making you turn, not you pulling on the wall )

- bring elbow down, like you were hitting somebody with your elbow behind you, this should be the arm of which you are turning to..

- at the same time with the other hand bring towards your ear, and keeping that hand behind your head..

- you join both hands, ( you should be on your side ) and before you push, you have to have them in streamline

- then push.. and you know the rest

I hope this helps, if not there are some great videos at www.swiminfo.com that show everything there is to know about breastroke

How difficult is it to make the swim team?

While laying at the top of the water on your belly, with your face forward out of the water...

Stretch arms out in front so that the finger knuckles are almost touching. Make sure the fingers are together with as small a gap as possible.

At the same time pull your knees under your belly as tighly as possible.

Now, all at the same time...

1. Sweep the arms out to your side while keeping the straight. Use your fingers as an oar/paddle.

2. Kick legs in a scissor motion behind you.

Brings hands/arms under you so that they are as close to your body as possible. Your arms should reach out under your chin ready to start the next stroke.

Back to top and do it over and over... you're swimming the breaststroke!

Why do they call it skinny dipping?

I am assuming you already know how to do the breaststroke...approaching the wall, take your last stroke and extend to the wall...make sure you touch with two hands(you can be disqualified if you do not)..next while lightly gripping the wall, pull your legs and body into the wall rolling yourself into a ball, with your feet resting on the wall. turning from your stomach to your side drop your left arm(bent at elbow) down to your side and with your right arm bring it over your head. As you are doing the following youshould start to submerge yourself in the water. As your rt. arm goes over your head start to extend your left and push off the wall in a streamline position(underwater)...Follow that by doing your breaststroke pull down.. to do the pull down:
start by bringing your streamlined arms down to your side in by 1) pulling out and then in and down along your body. next hold this for 3 seconds, then start to bring them up in a scooping motion together..as you bring them back up you want to do a breast stroke kick..basically you want to kick your arms forward. as you approach the surface start your breastroke pull and do your breakout stroke.you are all set..the faster you preform this the faster turn you have. most copetitive/experienced swimmers do not even need to hold on to the wall to preform this turn...

Is varsity water polo practice harder than varsity swim practice?

I was taught by a few swimmer friends and teachers how to breast stroke, I know the procedure but I don't glide fast as it should and it's stainous for me than free style. I practiced it months to know what went wrong.

1st you should know how to frog kick(float your body straight arms and legs, bend your knees then open your thigh and kick)

after kicking, pull your arms with your hands in between your chest then have your arms shape a medium heart pushing downwards

as you push downwards, your body elevates, have your head up for a quick breathe of air,

then straighten the arms again, and do the 1st step again with the bending of knees

Need advice on worries. please help?

On breaststroke, when you get to the wall, you come up for a breath of air while touching the wall with BOTH HANDS! If you turn without touching the wall with both hands, YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED! Anyway, when you've touched the wall, you push off with your hands while turning your entire body in the opposite direction. The breaststroke is actually quite simple. Before you reach the wall, usually you should do one last stroke and glide with your hands in front of you until you reach the wall. When you've completely turned, start doing your kick again while underwater and finally when you come up, start stroking again. Remember not to let your arms go below your waist after the turn. If the judges see that that will end up as a dq! (this is assuming that you swim competitively. I hope I'm correct.) Good luck. Hope this helped.
