How do you open an in ground pool?

I have no clue how to open our pool. We got the cover off of it and the water is black. Now what kind of chemicals should we use to get in clear? HELP I am desperate

Drain it and Start over. It will cost you less in the long run in Chemicals. But you could take a water sample to your local pool company and have them test it. They can tell you what to do from there.
