After losing 4 stone in weight, i still have very chunky and solid looking and feeling calves...?

Question:have taken up swimming and occassionally walk a mile a day too, are these going to help or make matters worse? and are there any other exercises i can try to slim my legs down? thanks.

also, what swimming technique is best for slimming and toning arms? i tend to do the front crawl more than breast stroke but which is better? cheers. x

Chlorine vs. bromine?

Calves are genetic. There's nothing you can do to make them slimmer. You know that slimming body wrap where they wrap you up mummy fashion and claim to make you slim inches. Don't try that because that doesn't work either.

Can i swim with a skinned knee?

First of all, congrats on losing the 4 stone! Unfortunately you cant spot reduce a certain spot but you can continue to keep in shape by your exercising and diet. Diet is key. If you just exercise but not eat properly, then you are defeating the purpose. But since you lost the 4 stone, sounds like you are well on your way to becoming fit. Swimming is wonderful exercise because it is low impact and very effective on all body parts. For toning your arms, any stroke is great in the pool. The breast stroke will help with forming your shoulder muscles. The more swimming you do along with a proper diet, will get you where you want to be. NOw some of us just have certain body types, but getting rid of the fat will help you see what you have. Good luck and Great JOb!

Does anyone know the name and tel # of a doctor in Corolla, N.C.? Thanks?

I'm a competitive swimmer, I think that swimming is very helpful for cardiovascular improvement and building muscle. Obviously, swimming has helped you loose a lot of weight! However, from what I've found, I haven't really lost much weight, I've just become more muscular. The weight loss will probably level off once you hit a certain point. The best stroke for toning the arms would have to be butterfly. If you don't know how to do that, I'd suggest freestyle (front crawl). I also think backstroke is really good for toning the legs. I hope this helps!
