200 IM improvements?
Question:I love to swim the 200 IM.
I am a sophmore on the high school swimming team, varsity.
However, my time is at a 2:24 right now.
The part that really slows me down is actually my backstroke.
My fly, is OK, back SUCKS, breast stroke is my strong point, and freestyle, well, its there.
Are there any IM workouts that I can try?
My goal by the end of the season (just started) is around 2:15 HOPEFULLY 2:10.

okay... this really works:do a TON of sprint 400 IM's and REALLY work them. i have been sprinting 300 frees to decrease my 200 free time...and in the last month i have dropped 7 seconds. your times will drop dramatically but you have to be consistant with these...you can't just do them a few times and expect to drop your time.

Don't worry about the IM workouts right now, concentrate on your freestyle and your backstrokes. That's where your speed should be. You can also do some serious work on your changes. Many swimmers slow down when they approach the wall, and that's when you should speed up so you can hit the wall and use your momentum to get started on the next lap.Keep at it. You've set an ambitious goal for yourself, but you can do it.
