Junior lifegaurd question?
Question:I'm in eight grade and 14 and i want to become a junior lifegaurd in the summer. I was just wondering if anyone knows how long it usally takes to become one and what kind of test you have to take. I'm a club swimmer in southern california and what do you do if you become a junior lifegaurd?

Cute and cheap bikinis! Where can I get those?
A junior lifeguard program typically teaches basic lifeguarding skills such as CPR, first aid, rescue techniques, and equipment use. It does not usually include job procedures or anything that would relate to actually working. You'd have to take a tests in CPR and rescue techniques most likely. It is a good class to take if you want to work at a beach/pool that pays really well so they don't throw out your application the first time you go to get a lifeguarding job.I got certified as a lifeguard over spring break.
(I know... not the greatest spring break..)
I had class Mon-Fri, 9:00-4:00.
Half of the class was swimming, other half class work.
For the test:
-You have to swim a 500 (100 free, 100 breast, 100 breastroke kick on ur back, 100 sidestroke on each side--i'm sure this will be easy for u cuz ur a club swimmer)
-a demonstration of each save
-scenarios: here, u'll have to pretend standing guard & the instructors will throw any situation @ u & u have to act on what u know
for class work:
-u have a test that's around 70 questions, if i remember correctly. it's pretty easy. u can only get 1 wrong on each section. if u get more than 1 wrong, u have to retake that section.
-first aid & cpr test
& u get lots of jobs as a lifeguard..
well obviously as a lifeguard.
but right now, i work @ my natatorium as a swim instructor for $12/hr!
big bucks right there...
I'm not sure what a junior lifeguard is, but for a regular lifeguard you have to be 15 years old. I think.
Well, good luck!
Hope this helps you!
