Almost all of the beaches are private or town-owned. Hammonassett is a decent state park, but the sand at the beach is coarse.

I like Misquamicut State Park in Westerly, Rhode Island, just across the state line. More like the Jersey shore, but not built up as much.

Should I quit swimming?

the Y. Or any other pool in the state. The reason for this is all of the beaches are either private, crowded, or disgusting. Try a club or something.
