SCUBA stands for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus, which is a pretty nifty anacronym. You have to be certified to do scuba diving and there two main schools that do this: NAUI, and PADI. Both are recognized internationally (which is important because if you go on vacation somewhere neat like Fiji or Tahiti, you'll want to do some diving while you are there, and will need certification.)
