A starting dive for a swimming competition?
Question:Hello, I am doing a project on a starting dive for swimming competitions (normal dive off of the starting blocks) and biomechanics. For any swimmers out there, or anyone who knows a far bit about swimming or diving, I am wondering what you belief are the most important/frequently used muscles in the body? Also any joints, etc. used that you may find significant. I am not necessarily looking for a direct answer but if anyone can point me towards a good website it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Answers:
then position your arms so that it cuts through the water easily
next, your head position should be chin down so when you are in the water, you lift your head to surface and start swimming
and maybe it depends if you want to leap forward then lower your body or lowering your body first and then jumping for less resistance
