Does 'double-suiting' help with chlorine?

Question:Often the swimmers on my swim team (me included) wear our old, chlorine-eaten swimsuits on top of our new ones to keep the new one from fading, discoloring and being eaten away by the chlorine. But does it really help at all? If not, what can we do to keep our suits better for longer?

Thanks!

What to wear in swimming pools?

No it doesn't help, but if you wash your suit every day it may last longer or you can just buy new suits every year. That is what I do.

The chlorine still eats thru the color if it gets to the suit.
