Ahhh frustrated with swimming?

Question:Do you think that some people may nevver be great at swimming, no matter how dedicated they are, how hard they work, how they want it more than anything in the whole world.they are just not capable of being a great swimmer? Ive been swimming competitively for almost 2 years, and my times are:
50 free: 35
100 free: 1:18
100 back: : 1:35
200 IM: 3:16

Thank you for any comments/ advice/inspring words!

What cpr class do you have to be a lifeguard?

I think it all depends on how much effort you put in it. First of, how old are you? How often do you practice? How many yards do you swim on average per practice?

Depending on your age, especially if you're still growing, you may have hit a plateau. These last a little while but are nothing to worry about. I usually had them when I had a growth spurt, since it takes some time for your technique to adjust to your new height. Probably if you stick with it you'll break through by the end of summer.

Other than that, it all comes down to how you practice. You need to join a club team if you haven't already. That will help you improve the fastest. Additionally, you need to practice at least 4 times a week, and probably more to see some improvement. IN these practices, you also need to do more than just to crank out the yards. From the times you posted it seems that you're mainly a sprinter and do some stroke events. You'll need to change up what you do between and during practices. In addition to swimming longer sets to build endurance, you'll need to sprint a lot to build a lactic acid tolerance. You'll also need to do drills to improve your technique. Another piece of advice I can give you is to work on your kick, that will help all of your events. Finally, work on your starts and turns to cut valuable seconds off your times.

As long as you keep working on it, there's nothing that should hold you back. I hope you continue to enjoy swimming, and overcoming these difficulties will be a great achievement.

I actually recently had a similar dilemma. Going from being the top on my team and an outstanding swimmer in high school to the next level in college swimming was difficult. Instead of being the fastest anymore, I had to struggle to keep up. I had to work really hard this last year, but I think all the time and work I put in paid off. Good Luck!

Which highscool coach used the 80/20 principle?

Nope I think everyone can be great! and I ammened you for trying. perhaps you just need to find the time of day that you are most awake and swim then. It will help you feel better and help youo swim better. also when you swim do thirty to forty laps (there and back is one lap) when you get done you'll find you passed a barier. (Around then middle of it you'll feel like you're gonna die or something.) but it will help build endurence and break down the slow barriar. I've been swimming for 13 years and sometimes I'm slower than I usualy am. (we have days) but breaking down the barrier really helps.

Swim Team!!?

hey, i've been taking swimming lessons for almost a year and i still can't swim at all. but i do great translations instead. point is, try to figure out what's more important to you: to win competitions or to gradually improve your performances? if you are so passionate about swimming try to re-evaluate your attitude towards such concrete factors as times. let go and relax a bit. most important, have fun doing it, the swimming i mean :)

I'm just learning to swing with no hands but i keep falling?

dont worry juss keep up tha good work

How do i keep my goggles from getting foggy in the swimming pool?

You say that you are dedicated, that you want it more than any thing in the world. Are you in the pool every day, swimming 5000 meters a day, only resting long enough to puke. Umm I'm thinking no, otherwise your 50 would be 11 seconds lighter. You need to stop TALKING about how hard you work, and how you are not capable, and start actually working and rise above your obstacles.

How can I get the owner of Windmill pools to call me?

Best place to go snorkeling?

those are some of the best times for only being competitive for 2 years! i've been swimming on swim team for 3 years and you still have pretty much better times than me! 50 free=38, IM=1:11
50 back=45, 50 breast=47

Goggle Question?

It is frustrating! I've bene keeping my mouth shut for 10 years because I know if I say something I'll never hear the end of it. I've been swimming since I was 14. Back then, I used to train swimming 5km per day for 3 months before the competition. I'm 5'6, and no matter how much I trained, some 6'1 guy who just showed up from time to time would get better times than me. People say height doesn't matter but it does. I've been swimming for 10 years trying to win something. I'm 24, it's 3 months away from the meets, I'm still trying, I'm going to start going at 6:00 AM to swim 1 km before work, and 4 km in the afternoons, I'm doing just a bit of weights to get some more strenght. I'm going to do my best like every year, but I wouldn't be surprised some guy over 6 feet tall who didn't trained as much as I did will beat me. It is frustrating, it really sucks when you lose and people tell you you need to train harder, and it kills you because you know you made a bigger effort than the other guy.
In swimming, there's really not much you can do after you reach whatever it is your body is capable of, it sucks, but that's the way it is.

Hi.. can i swim when having period ? How? tia?

everyone can be faster every time. :) maybe what you need is to try swimming with someone faster then you, so you could push yourself to swim faster. :D
