Use general purpose play sand. If you go to a pool supply store and get sand there it is silica sand for use in filters. This type of sand can be harmful to your health if precautions aren't made.Lowes's, Home Depot, Costco, Sam's Club, local hardware stores and local rockery/landscape supply places will have sand suitable for use under the pool liner. If you go with the latter choice it will be the cheapest but you will have to make sure you don't have any rocks in it.

fine sand . that has been rolled or compacted very tightly.if you want to have the flattest bottom and have it stay like a rock but not tear try some kitty litter that stuff stays soft enough to do the job but wont shift so no future bumps.

If it is a soft pool liner the best thing to put under it is a soft layer of sand.After a miss hap with a liner failure I used foundry sand ,new had a problem untill the walls rusted out .Alesson was learned to caulk around both sides of wall before putting in linner and installing jets .Hope this helps and happy swimming .

Well I remember we put sand under ours several years ago, although I can't remember if that had anything to do with why we took the pool down.. I remember we used the sand to sort of sculpt and shift a lump, which after we put the liner down, formed a seat inside the pool.More Questions & Answers...
