My pool water turns green after rain storms, can I do anything about this?
Question:I just bought a house with a pool, but I don't have any prior experience with one.
According to the good people at the local pool shop my pool water is perfectly fine, but it turns green and nasty after rain storms and takes several days to clear up.
Bonus Question: There is also some green stuff (algae?) stuck to the vinyl liner that is nearly impossible to scrub off, any suggestions? Note: I've already given the pool a heavy dose of algicide.

I neeeeed tankinis. checked EVERYWHERE, no luck =[?
HiFor a quick fix, skim all debris off top, vacuum and shock it, run the filter for 24 hours then back flush. Should work fine!
Once your pool is up and running correctly again always turn your pump on during a storm, put your cover on it and shock it directly after a storm after you have skimmed all the surface debris off and vacuumed it. With the pump circulating the water and removing the dirt as it blows in you should "stay in the clear". And also, since your pool has a vinyl lining it is actually better to use some spa conditioner in it. This will help with the algae as the spa algicide is more concentrated and helps with the clean up as it conditions everything too.
best of luck!
Do you have a vacuum in your pool ? I had a pool when I lived in Florida? You should have a Polaris. That will take care of all that you won't have to do much cleaning. Mine was uncovered too, it never turned green. Are treating it with chemicals properly?
I need help with a goggle problem.?
Wow, contact a pool professional. I had this problem with a place of mine in CA, and it took forever to clear up.How do u overcome a fear of deep end in a swimming pool?
Shock it and shock it again. There is also a blue liquid water clarifier that works wonders removing particles and discoloration.I would try bleach but dont get in the water after applying it wait like a week
Why is breathing important in swimming?
the best thing i think would be to just manage the ph and occasionally Shock the pool! it will kill everything but you cant swim in it for 24 hours i believe check the package! the only thing you can do about algae is scrub and scrub check with your local pool supply they might have suggestions about cleaning it too! Please drop me a line at robandliz1992@yahoo.com so I can help you out. The pool store isn't going to be able to help you with this and you are going to need some help understanding your pool. I can give you a break down of everything you need, amounts, schedule, and an understanding of what the chemicals are and why they are used in the pool (what they do). I need to know a few things though:
Gallons of pool
Filtration system
Test kit you own
Sanitation you use (chlorine or bromine)
What your water chemistry is at this point in time
The more informed you are the better you are going to be able to handle your own pool without the expense of a pool cleaning service or reliance on the pool store.
Short answer to what the problem is, the rain water is "killing" the sanitation agent in your water (chlorine or bromine) and the algae blooms within a few hours.
