What would be a proper way to get back into shape for swimming?
I am trying to get back into shape for swim season. I have not swam on a team for 3 yrs. I do not exactly have the swim body. I am currently 210 pds. I need to find a way to possible get back into shape to possible join the team.

What should I think about while swimming laps?
I suggest you start off with light swimming to get back into the zone. You can slowly start building up again. If you go it all at once, you might burn out. Do other exercises like running and weight lifting to get your strength and endurance back. Eat a healthy diet and have plenty of sleep.What's the percentatge of Americans that can swim?
Well, swimming would help best, but just don't go all out.Alternate with running for some cross-training
off course you do need to have your proper diet and self discipline,,,, you may also do some home exercises and eat foods that are less in sugar...

get back in that pool and start up again!start off with kick's then move up to drills and just do distance swimming
do some cardio also, like running to keep that endurance up!
and eat healthy & drink more water to burn off excess weight
