Am I lame to get cramps in my legs after doing the back (stroke) kick?
Question:It reay hurts after I do it for two laps after swim team. Am I just lame or do I need more practice?

why would you be LAME?You need to warm-up first. Do lots of stretches, not only for your legs, but your arms and back as well.

eat bananas before swimming! it really works! and stretching before helps also.Eat bannnans before you pratice. They are good for not getting cramps. Also when you do get a cramp place your toes on the wall of the pool and press hard making your toes and foot a 45 degree angle. it will hurt but after the 4th or 5th time you wont get to many cramps

i ALWAYS get calf cramps.just stretch before swimming and seriously, eat a banana on the way to practice or on the way to the meet or whatever.
and when you DO get one, sometimes you can keep swimming if its just little, but if it's a big cramp, you should STOP swimming. most times, if you can, just get out. i've seen a few people who had cramps and they kept going and it just kept getting worse. it's better to get out and stretch it out before you keep going.
last year, i had a cramp that lasted for about a week. kinda unusual, but the muscles were basically all knotted up all week. it suckkked. and if that happens, go to a doctor

Cramps are not unusual, especially after kicking backstroke. Fatigue, dehydration, and electrolyte imbalance contribute to cramps. Keep up the training, drink plenty of water, reduce salt intake, and try eating a few bananas.Be sure and stretch out the muscle after practice to reduce the potential for sore muscles (charlie horse) .

You need a really good worm up before you go to the water. The next thing is your diet you should eat more mineral elements. No! of course it isn't lame because almost all Olympic athletes get cramps in their legs after doing backstroke. To decrease crampage, stretch before and after practice as this Will loosen your muscles and decrease your chance of getting a cramp.More Questions & Answers...
