It is not surprising. He is the most complete player on tour (maybe ever). He is capable of hitting every imaginable shot, has no weaknesses in his game, and is equally proficient playing offensively and defensively. He has acheived so much in the sport (8 majors, incredible winning streaks, and numerous records) and, at 24, has years left to lift his game, and the sport as a whole, to new heights. Away from the court, he conducts himself in a gentlemanly manner, and is the perfect ambassador for the sport. It is easy to see why Justine Henin-Hardenne and, no doubt, many other players would have nothing but admiration for such a wonderful champion.
