Can have some advice for my serve?
I'm 6'2. When my first serve is on, it's nearly impossible to return. however, it's seldom because i'm very erratic with it. I either hit it a million feet out or the net. To all of you tall good serving players, what is some advice you can give me to help me have a consistent and powerful 1st serve?

Practice a consistent first serve, first. If you are blasting a strong flat serve everytime you go out, you'll never be consistent. Learn a very good spin second serve (not to much though) and use it for both serves. Learn to place it well and move it around. Then, when you get where you double fault 1-2 times a match max, start blastng some flat first serves. Two things will happen, one you will be so confident, that alone wil improve your serve and two you'll begin to add a little more spin (from hitting up) without sacrificing power on your first (that will also make it consistent. Another thing, just for giggles and grins-stand at the service box line(inside the court) and try as hard as you can to serve across the net into the other box. You'll see what people mean when they say 'hit up on the ball' on your serve. From wher i sell get the video CD/DVD of tennis in ahamdabad or downlod from net?
you can try bending ur knees when u toss and come up after to give u more power (if u dont do that already) and make sure u snap ur wrist cuz that can lead to the ball going wayy out...it's better to hit it out tho than to hit it into the net, because u can just adjust it with more spin...learning to do a topspin serve helps a lot too cuz it's harder to return (if u don't do it already)...Many people serve in different ways, but there are certain things most good servers do. One is to turn. When you serve, your left foot (if your right-handed) should be pointing to the right of the net. Then, the toss is important. The toss should be about the height of your racket when you are holding it straight up above your head. Finally, when you get a good toss, you use your right hand (if your right-handed) and swing the racket at the tennis ball. This should happen when the ball is hovering and about to come down.
Hopefully, using my advice, your serve can be better. But remember, practice is the key.

The toss & timing is very important. Hitting the ball too high can lead to hitting long & hitting it too low could force your serve into the net. Practice tossing the ball to about the same height over & over again and figure out at what point in that toss you need to make contact. When your serve is "on", you're doing things consistently. The more often you can control this sequence, the more often your serve will be "on". Don't "overthink", however, or you'll create errors by trying too hard on the mechanics. Try to get to a point where the toss, contact & follow through are "second nature". It takes a lot of practice, but if you really want a consistent serve that's what you need to do.Why is Davis Cup Tennis match is called a tie?
for starters, there is no correct height to toss the ball. it varies from one person to another due to height, reach and mechanics.basically, if ur a right-hander, from the deuce court, toss slightly to your left. your toss should be high enough for yourself to reach for it when you make contact with the ball.
if you still are not able to get that, try tossing the ball with your hitting hand over the net without the racquet.
notice your elbows and the extension of your hitting arm.
for you to toss the ball over the net from the baseline, your elbows will hv to bend then when you release the ball, your hitting arm will have to be straight.
so now with the racquet in hand, try serving with the same motion.
by tossing slightly your left, you will impart slight spin on the ball. remember to try to push off using you legs. the more the toss is to your left, the more spin you can impart.
but remember spin brings the ball down. so make sure you swing forward on contact.
and you your legs to push up on the ball.

Make your toss consistent. Practice serving every single day until your timing becomes automatic.Toss the ball slightly towards the net and don't toss it too high. You want to be able to strike the ball at the moment the toss reaches the apex. At the apex, gravity finally catches up with momentum and for a split second the ball stands still. That's when you want to strike the ball.
If you throw it up too high, then the ball is already accelerating by the time you hit it, requiring ever better timing.
As for generating power, use your legs. Get a good knee bend, rotate your hips, then your torso, and put a good wrist snap on it at the end.
Work on your abdominal muscles. This is usually the weak point in players' bodies. We use our legs all the time, so they are typically pretty strong, but the abs are nearly always neglected.
remember your serve is only as good as your Second serve. keep a few points in mind :
1. ball toss : practice to make your ball toss consistent.. its the key to a good serve... the toss should be just in front of you.
2. use a bit of turn, wrist snap while serving. it adds spin and helps keep the ball in.
3. if you want additional power try putting more bodyweight into the serve(fall into the serve more) rather than swing harder.
