I want to have an ATP ranking so I need advice on my first tournament.?
Question:Hi guys, I want to have an ATP ranking so I'm planning to play my first ATP tournament. Here are my questions:
1. What is the difference between an ATP Challenger and Futures tournament? If I'm playing my first tournament which one should I play?
2. According to ITF, "players just starting out may wish to should select tournaments with a large qualifying draw, tournaments with lower prize money or tournaments in less favourable locations" so which tournament do you think has these qualifications preferably in Asia?
3. Any other advice to help me is appreciated.
Thanks

You need to play a couple of Futures first. Futures offer low prize money( total about $10 000 - $15 000) and are played on many locations. Any professional can join a future if he qualifies. Challengers offer much higher prize money(total about $25 000 - $100 000) and only lets in players who are ranked. Almost all the players who join Challengers are ranked inside the TOP 500 or 600. Qualify for a couple of Futures so you can be eligible of joining Challengers. There is a Future scheduled in Asia next week at China(total prize money is $ 10 000).
