Also i really want to play usta tourneys but again they dont like me spending time on anything besides studying. they even encourage me to skip as many practices as possible. i really want to start playing tennis seriously, what should i do?

How can you strengthen your ankles?

If you plan to go to college, it looks a lot better if you are active in something other than studying. People who are in clubs or sports are considered more "well rounded" and may have better opportunities getting into college.

When you guys and gals are taking lessons, what is your favorite drill? Describe it a bit .?

Wow this is kind of unbelievable. But tell them being active in your school activities is important to your health. It will help you be a better social person meeting new friends. Also colleges like to see you participating in extracurricular activities such as tennis. Tell them that this is something you really like and tell them you are dissapointed in them. This will probably flip flop the way they are thinking now.

Beginner's Racquet.?

Sounds like their main concern, quite obviously, would be your academics. Convince them that you can juggle both, and if your grades slip, then you'll cut back on the practices or something. Compromise.

What do tennis string gauges mean? Whats the difference?

you should pursue it, not only is it your desire, but its good for college too. Colleges love to take students who do sports alot, not only grades. Tell your parents that bc it can only be beneficial to you and your college choice. good luck

All i can say is that your parents are jerks :(
They should support you especially for playing a sport and being active and involved

Are there any self-play tennis courts in vegas for one person?

Tell your parents that you need as much excercise right now at your age. If you play a ton of tennis, then tennis will be much more than a sport, it will be what you treasure to yourself what is fun. Then, tell them that you still want to go to school, but sports is also important because it will make your resume look good for later schools/ jobs.

Once they say it is okay, just practice at courts that are close to you. Then, join the USTA once you know that you are ready (get some people to play you and see if you can play in the USTA). Before you know it, you might be a star if you put some devotions into both tennis and school.

What is so special about the Andre Agassi sneakers by Nike?

Generally if your parents are school nuts, It would confuse (at least me) people why they wouldn't let you play sports. When trying to get into college, schools want to see more than just good grades, they want to see somebody that.. well.. gets out there. Tell your parents if they want the best from you and college, have them let you join the team. If that still doesn't convince them, see if you can talk with you and your parents to the school councilor about the benefits of extra-curricular activities.

Or better yet just do what my brother did... no sports no school. Your parents can make you study but they can't make you turn in homework on time or pass a test. I hope your parents are smarter than having that happen :(

good luck =)

Talk to your parents about tennis and tell them how much you love tennis. Also tell them that if you play really good you have a chance to get scholar ship to a good college. Tell them that you will also concentrate on your studies too. But dont just tell them show them how much you like tennis and that you will keep up with your grades.

Anybody know where I could get a tennis racket restrung?

Tell them that most colleges will accept a student who makes A's and B's but plays a sport over a student who makes straight A's and doesn't play a sport..a college doesn't want a student thats not involved w/ campus activities

ARE YOUR PARENTS CAPABLE OF FINANCING YOUR TENNIS?

As these maybe the real problems because i see no point of not letting you play tennis if you got good, passing grades and that your family has allowable extra money for your sport.

You have to show your parents some good grades and if they can't afford to finance your tennis, you have to find a sponsor.
