Whats the best tennis training camp for kids?

What is out in tennis?

Hey rolly *, that's a great question. There's actually different answers depending on what you're looking for in a "training camp". If you're talking about a tennis academy, that's more intense (and more expensive), but the most successful way of going at it. Tennis camps that are just one week long are often done at tennis academies, but not exclusively. So, with that in mind, I'll give you my opinion:

1. Academies. The most famous tennis academy in the world is Nick Bollettieri's in Bradenton Florida (I'll include the link in the sources). Its list of alumni includes Andre Agassi, Martina Hingis, Monica Seles, Maria Sharapova, and Jim Courier. It was the academy that changed the face of professional tennis. However, you're going to end up paying about 1.5k per week for that kind of quality. There are several other academies that you can find just by buying a copy of Tennis Magazine (www.tennis.com) and checking out all of the advertisements at the back of the magazine. I also remember a few years ago hearing about Pete Sampras starting an academy, but I couldn't find an official page--just that a tennis complex was built for it in conjunction with AEG and an MLS team in So. Cali.

2. Camps. A lot of D1 schools have their own tennis camps during the summer. I'll include some links below, but you should be able to find them by going to the desired university's athletic homepage and looking for the "camps" heading. Another option is the Nike summer camps. I'll include their link as well. When I was a kid I went to a Nike summer camp. It was pretty good. It was a bit more expensive than going to the NCAA D1 camp that I went to, but I didn't think it was as fun. But that was just me.

You may also want to check at your local racquet club. I know that my club when I was growing up offered youth camps.

In summary, the BEST camps end up being the most expensive ones, usually: the academies. A friend of mine taught at the Bollettieri academy and he confirmed that to me. However, most universities offer very good and competitive camps as well.

I hope that helps.

What happened to Petr Korda?

You should check out Chuck Kressies Total Tennis Traing camp at clemson university. I have gone there for 4 years.

Can i blame the tennis balls?!?

One of my friends went to a tennis academy in Austin, Texas. I heard that is pretty good. Also, I was told that there are some good camps in Florida. So, definitely look for good camps in large tennis states.
