Fear of victory ? Are they trained enough to step into professional tennis & be labled as tennis players?
Question:Fear of Victory is very dominant in women tennis. I can't help but see how players throw away matches so easy & their game is flat when they have to face famous players. Kim for example; she would win a gramme in the fear of victory factor, especially against Sharapova. She plays super tennis, but not when she plays Sharapova(i've noticed). She becomes frozen stiff.
Also so many women tennis players seem to have taken a 2 hours tennis lesson before playing in professional tennis. They could hardly know how to serve or hit the ball back & what is shocking, they are in the top 50. I wonder how do the ones play who are over the top 50, if they do know at all what is the game of tennis is about. Is it buy the raquet, hold it in your hand, bounce the ball once or twice & you qualify to be called a professional women tennis player ? Some even are so out of shape & could hardly move, not to mention run after the ball.
I just wonder if someone beside me has noticed !

I think you hit the spot. Fame creates fear in the opponent who has to play the famous player because she always doubts if she is that good to beat the famous player.Maria profits a lot from it & she know that her opponents are scared silly of her fame & will give her free points to win the match & most of her matches were won by this fear to play against fame. That is why Maria loses against players who don't care of her fame & as well as famous as her such as Justine, Serena, Venus, Maresmo, Davenport, etc.
I also agree with you that many women tennis players don't deserve to be called tennis players .
