How do I get some playing time?
I like Tennis but have never actually played. If I live in Garland Texas, how can I find someone to train me or to play with/ against. Lessons I guess I'm saying. Someone who likes to have fun.

Lesson programs do cost, but it's a great investment to insure you get off on the right foot. Also, this will help you to meet players of your own level. That's important because by meeting other players, you'll have more opportunities to play.
If you were just to go to the park courts and wait around to meet hitting partners, you'd have a hard time. Sad to say, but most social players do not like playing or hitting with players of lower levels. So by signing up for a beginner's program, you'll surround yourself with potential hitting partners of your own level that will share the same motivation and desire to play!
From being around tennis all my life, I can tell you the strongest bonds you'll form with other players are the ones you form early in your development. So contact either this program or another in the city, and begin your involvement.
One thing to keep in mind, as a beginner, it can be intimidating to go to a large facility. However, that is EXACTLY what you want to do! The larger the facility, the more players, and it gives the pros a better opportunity to fill classes and leagues with players of equal abilities. Smaller clubs will often have to "mix" players of varying levels in some leagues or clinics due to limited players. This is not good for beginning players. So, even though it might be your natural instinct to seek a small, less-visited club or facility to begin your tennis career, avoid doing so and look for a large facility!
