Iam 15 and i want to learn tennis.with in how many years can i become a professional player?
i played tennis for a month.later i discontinued due to some problems.now i want to start again.usually if a kid starts playing tennis at the age of 5/6 he would practice 1-2 hrs a day and he will be perfect by the age of 12 or13.if i start playing tennis at the age of 15 and if i practice 5-6 hours a day and if i take good excercise coaching and if i put all the effort which was put by a kid in a week,in one day,why can't i become perfect within 2or 3 years?i dont believe in, that only those who started at very young age will become a pro.for example, there are many tennis coaches who began tennis at a ver younger age but they didn't shine at the professional circuit.they just settled as coaches, because they don't have luck.that's why, what i think is,luck is most important than any thing n if u have no luck your talent will not shine.i will try until i suceed n if i have luck i can become a tennis great.

A little story before I get to my answer:A martial arts student went to his teacher and said earnestly, "I am devoted to studying your martial system. How long will it take me to master it." The teacher's reply was casual, "Ten years." Impatiently, the student answered, "But I want to master it faster than that. I will work very hard. I will practice everyday, ten or more hours a day if I have to. How long will it take then?" The teacher thought for a moment, "20 years."
The moral of the story: It will take as long as it will take, and not a second before. Yes you will have to work hard, every day. But even then, you can't know how long it will take to master tennis. In fact, it might not ever happen.
You have the right idea - determination and work are the way to go if you are serious. A little luck couldn't hurt. But be aware - you will experience setbacks. And they'll probably hurt - big. The difference between a pro and an amateur is not letting the pain of the setbacks derail you.
And for what it's worth, I agree with you - it's not too late to start. Mozart may have been a child prodigy, but Beethoven didn't start studying music until his early 20s.
BTW, I've included below a link to perhaps the finest Tennis Academy in America to help get you started. Maria Sharipova, Bjorn Borg, Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, and both Williams sisters have trained there.

you can be a badass at tennis however, it doesn't matter if no one important notices you. You have to find out where the scouts are and then play your best in front of them. It's same thing as any other sport. If no one knows you exist then your not going to make it professionally.

Becoming a pro tennis player is much harder than you realize.First, there are hundreds of thousands of young kids who from the age of about 4-5 start playing tennis for hours a day for their whole life and hence become experts. A select few of these becoming amateurs. Of those, a very select few become pro tennis players. It is extremely extrememly hard to become a pro tennis player. Most of it is genetics, do you have the natural skill? Of course you have to train like crazy. Hate the burst the bubble, but even if you are blessed with the one in 50000 pro skills, beginning at age 15 pretty much ends the dream.
But you could get good and join some amateur tournaments for money if you are lucky.
But most of all, tennis is a fun event. Thats priceless.
