Do u need to know how to hit with a racket, before u play?
You have to rotate upward under the ball with your hips. It sounds to me like you're putting to much arm into the serve. Here's a drill I suggest you do. You'll be doing this with out the ball toss at first until you've got your mind trained to do it automatically. Stand sideways with your left foot in front of your right foot and vice versa if you're a lefty. Bring the raquet back in a throwing motion now as you get ready to come back through to hit the ball don't use your arm at all just rotate your hips in a 45 degree angle to generate your raquet head speed. Don't worry about your arm it should naturally rotate upward to meet the ball when you rotate your upper body with the hip rotation. Do this drill I would say at least 20-30 times a day without the toss and do it very slow in order to train your mind for about 3-4 days after this when you go to do the rotation on your serve this motion should be automatic and you should feel comfortable doing it.Now when you go to implement the toss on your serve make sure that you always come through with the now learned hip rotation instead of your arm it will come through naturally and then make sure the raquet head face is cocked back and open(sweet spot or middle of raquet strings is facing the ball) coming up to meet the ball and flick your rist and pop the ball coming up under it.
Also this is crucial make sure that in your serve rotation that you try and meet the ball when your raquet, shoulder, hips line up with each other so that you come through with your whole body not just your arm. This will also help you keep the ball in the service box in front of your friend.
Please note that this is way easier said than done and takes alot of pratice to get it right; but it is a blue print for the way your serve should be so if you can practice it enough and get it right it will be one hell of a serve. This technique is actually called the chong. It's the technique Pete Sampras used and I use it myself; it's very effective and consistant. One more thing email me at :andreflash1@gmail.com . I wanna know how your training progresses.
