No, I think she depends on her power a bit too much and she is not getting younger. Unless she starts playing smart (or more) , younger players will soon overpower her, if that isnt happening already. There are a few top names that win tournaments periodically and serena is not one of them.. Sharapova, Mauresmo, cljister.

As long as she stays in shape she always has a good chance. She has one of the best serves in women's tennis and as long as she keeps her unforced errors down, I think she can make it back. Only if she plays. I've been rather mad because they say that she can make it because she has NO points to defend until the fall and she hasn't played much at all. She has the best chance out of everyone because of the point system (considering she already won the Australian). Imagine if she played lower level tournaments like every other week or so. You know how many points she would rack up. She'd be number 1 by a mile. So, her two biggest obstacles are not playing and injury. She recently pulled out of an event because of a groin injury but she said it wouldn't affect future tournaments.Hopefully, she can play more and will make it. I think that she will need some impressive showings at the French and at Wimbledon (0 points to defend).

Yes. Serena proved she can take the number 1 rank again with her win over Justine Henin this year after losing the first set 0-6. She then came back and fought for the win. Justine Henin is undoubtedly the most mentally tough player on the women's tour. She does not fold in her final round appearances. She's like the oldest on tour.even older than Lindsay Davenport or Jennifer Capriati and she's like kicking butt when she's in good form..trust me, if the sisters put their mind to it and really commit.I don't doubt that at all.she definitely can...i base that on her past preformance and work ethic..if she comes back with the same attitude and work ethic that she had before. she can definitely do it...maybe not right away...it could take a while, but she can do it

Serena is clearly the most gifted female tennis player in the world and frankly has proven she doesn't need much practice to get into shape to defeat all the top players in the world. This was obviously proven with her winning the Australian and defeating Henin in a top final recently. If she dedicates herself to tennis I see no reason why she can't be number one again.
I feel it's a shame (from my prospective) that she had to do so many other activities besides tennis because I thought if she worked hard like a Martina Navratilova that she could have broken every tennis record in the books. You can't blame her for this since we all have different value and she felt acting and other things were very important to her.
