Is Maria Sharapova's game declining?
Since her bombardment by Serena Williams in the Aussie Open final, Sharapova has played quite rough. She has hit numerous double faults and several wild unforced errors, that are usually absent from her championship-type performances. Will she continue to play like this for the rest of the 2007 season?

YES ! I wrote about it few times on this site & i got responses saying no, but i contradicted everyone.YES ! She is out ! I think that was about the best we saw of Maria (2006). From now on she is gonna continue dropping in the ranks. Her game is gone, even her eyes tells it all. Her serve became as bad as Dementieva, her mobility/agility is bad(she used to run the balls), she is out of breath early in the match, she can't take the heat anymore & she gained few pounds.
She is a typical story of Stars who are in it for the money. Once they reach their goal of wealth & fame, then they relax, don't practice, go to photo shoot, sit by the pool or inside the air condition to enjoy their wealth & that ends their career.
The William's sisters are the perfect example.

She's got to continue working hard to improve her game- she needs to work on her mobility, her serve, and her net game. With her groundstrokes and amazing fighting spirit, she should be able to buckle down and continue to improve. I don't think she's played enough competitve tennis this year, and it hurt her in the match with Serena as well as the one with Zvonereva. It's hard to say if she will continue to play this way for the rest of 2007 because we have seen miracles from all players before. But to agree with some other comments her fame has seem to be getting in her way even though she said awhile ago that tennis was her life but now you see her in commericals and posing for magazines. I know that everyone has to have a life outside of thier careers she is a teenager so I can understand that her attention span can change and new things come. Sometimes I wonder if her heart is really into it or her dad is the one living his dreams through her because at times it seems that he wants to be the one down there instead of her. But we will never know exactly I guess we will just have to wait and see. I think she enjoys being out there but if her focus has seem to be slipping so soon we will see how long she decides to play as a pro. How many times do they have to come back and beat everyone and show they are without a doubt, still better than everyone without being fit for all of you stupid tennis watchers to get it? Yeah they tend to fade, but its because of injury... and when they come back and are actually dedicated like i believe they are this year, they show they can win. serena won ao and venus won her first tourny back so i dont know where you've been in 2007, but you obviously havent been keeping up with tennis..As far as Maria, I believe that if she doesn't take some time off to get back into her rhythm and find her form again, she WILL be gone soon.

Tennis players always go through peaks and valleys with their game.Confidence is probably the #1 culprit of this. Something can get into your head and throw you off ever so slightly, but at that level, it can mean matches and tournaments.
She'll be fine. She's young and more competitive than most women, IMO. She's out there to beat the snot out of the woman across the net and that attitude isn't going away anytime soon.
Maria is just going through a bad patch. Certainly she needs to get her serving under control. It's losing her matches and eroding her confidence. She's lost her fearlessness which is such a huge part of her game. I think she'll have a rough time of it for the next couple of months but will pull through and start to play better later in the year.

No. Maria still looks tall and pretty on the court. She is playing her best already. She can't get any better than this.It's just others are stronger, playing better and have better coaches.
