I'm a lefty and I feel that my ground strokes aren't as spiny as other leftys. What can I do to improve?
Question:I'm a 15 year old female tennis player playing for my school.
Currently I've stopped tennis due to my back injury and I can only start playing again after June.
I feel that since I can't play tennis for three months, I would might as well word on my ground strokes and stuff.
I feel that my groundstrokes doesn't have as much topspin as other leftys that I've played against.
Does anyone have any solutions?
Answers:
Which is the official ball suppliers at Wimbledon?
Forehand:1. Start with a closed stance.
2. Use a western grip. The western grip generates a lot of topspin.
3. Try to swing the racquet fast because if you don't, the ball would float some in the air.
4. Watch how Rafael Nadal uses the western forehand to trouble people.
Do you have a one handed backhand or a two handed backhand?
Eastern backhand: It's good if you want explosiveness on your shot but if the ball is high then you have to reach up high to hit the ball well.
Semi-Western backhand: This grip delivers the most topspin on shots. But, since the swing is extreme it's hard to make any subtle changes to what shot you'd hit.
Two Handed Backhand: The stroke is compact and consistent. But it limits your reach so if you have to return a tough shot, try to use the slice.
That's all I know about tennis grips. Here are three sites that I think you'd find very useful and helpful for your game.
change your grip to a western style and see if that helps, if not change it back to your normal grip style, you don't always have to have the most spiny shot as long as you git it in. try to find what works for you.
Make sure your racquet is good enough to generate some spin, some racquets are really not good to generate spin with, or you can't at all.
1. Try to swing to the ball
2. Try to lift the ball up in the sky
3. Train against another lefty, to get a specific training on the forehand/backhand side ...
4. Repeat those steps, and tune up the pace, after a few weeks you should be able to get some pace and angles.
What do u think about the PRINCE 03 Hybrid Hornet MP?
Try using 2handed strokes like 2h forehand and back hand to make up for the spin with power. In tennis, what is a lucky loser?
Roll over the ball more. Find the balance between how much spin you want while still getting it over the net. It the ball closer to you for backspin and reach a little more for topspin. Use a ball machine and experiment with different grips and stances for putting spin on the ball. Spin is also affected by the shot you are returning. If you are hit a hard topsipin ball, your return will most likely have backspin because of the way the ball rolls of the racket.I'm a natural lefty but I actually enjoy having flat balls..but I can put a spin to them if I decide to.don't get used to spinning every shot or you'll get used to it and lose the ability to hit flat balls. Nadal's shots are always loopy and spinny because he's not a natural lefty. My serve compared to him is very different. I can serve it flat and fast.he can only rely on his slice serve because he never learned the right way to serve, with his natural serving motion.
