Do professional tennis players have to pay a tournament registration/entrance fee of some sort?

Tennis scoring question. Help needed!?

of course not. as a matter of fact, the top ten players usually get paid just to show up, even if they lose in the 1st round. the only time they dont get paid is at the grand slams and at the masters series tournaments. the key is to be ranked in the top 50. if your ranked in the top 50 in the world, you automatically get a pass to the tournament. anybody outside the top 50 usually has to qualify for the tournament to get into the main draw. tournament directors want the best players there bc they attract a large crowd, thats why the top 10 players usually get paid an appearance fee, free hotel, free rental car, and gifts. basically, if your in the top 10, u got it made.

No, not when they are a professional.

Is Roger Federer the best sportsman in the last 2yrs?If not who is and why?

Speaking from experience, they do not pay to play in pro tournaments. Now USTA tournaments do require entry fees but pro tournaments have these things called sponsors so there is no need to pay.
