How do you hit a backhand down the line?

the wikipedia site is quite accurate, but it doesn't say why they use love. It might be from respect to the other player since it is a "gentleman's game". Deuce means double of something, so double of scores of forty. And tie just sounds weird. =] But when i played tennis this spring, we said 5, 3, and 4 instead of 15, 30, 40 because we wanted faster games.
