She does not have a lot of variety on her shots. She only hits hard, nothing else. She won't win the grandslam, but she should be able to reach the fourth round, maybe quaterfinals.
She has to be patient too, and she doesn't have that for this surface, and her serve is not that great. She has to improve her serve to have any chance of winning not only this grandslam, but also the others. She has the game, but not the best serve, at least she has a better serve than Dememntieva. When she has a good she serves good, but the same way she serves with easy opponents is the same for harder opponents, so she is going to have struggles, if she doesn't improve the serve even more. My prediction is 4th because, sometimes in the fourth, you have to play against a top 10 player, or a top 15 to 20, and she will struggle.

Maria is horrible on the Clay court surface because she loves to hit big winners and loves to pound the ball with her big forehands. Clay court is more suited towards players who are more patient and have a variety in their shot selection. Due to her past matches on clay, I think she'll cruise into the quarters, and maybe further but it really depends on the competition. So my final answer will be quarterfinals.

She could catch Myskina in the 1st round and also go out in a hurry. However her draw could also be really easy and she could make it to the QF. I just don't see much of a chance of her making it past the QF and I think the 3rd round is a pretty good estimate, given the current state of her game.

Maria's game is best suited for faster courts.but I give her maybe 4th round unless she faces a clay-court specialist...then she's in trouble. She can serve fast and hit big shots but the clay will slow it down for any other players lower in ranking than her so I expect the others to just roll over her.
