Why do the women play best of 3 in the us open instead of best of 5?
Dear tennis fan- this is how it goes:Scoring points- All of the stuff u said is true indeed, yet there are some lesser thought of ways to earn (or steal) a tennis point:The umpire can award a point to an opponent of a player due to that player's unsportsmanlike conduct (e.g.- throws a racket at the opponent during point). Meaning that just enough teasing by you might end up winning you the match. Also, when playing on clay, a known way to win points is possible when your opponent hits a shot close to the line, and you quickly erase the mark it left inside the court, call the ball out and claim it to have caused a different mark on the court, one which is, of course, out. This actually works sometimes on the pro tour.
Groundstrokes- Pretend there is a face drawn right onto your racket- eyes, nose, etc. The horizontal angle (right, left) is always gonna be determined by where the "face" of your racket was "looking" when you hit the ball. Vertical angle (up, down) is also gonna be determined by that tilt, but it is important to guess the power needed to hit the right spot on the court. There is no better teacher at that than your experience. And if that doesn't help, you can always ask the Swiss master in the link below (super slo-mo groundstrokes). Look out for the look of the racket at contact point- even Roger can"t hit well without that part (though he probably could actually)
first u go 15-30-40 but if it is tied 40-40 it is called deuce which a player has to win by 2 to win the game. u must win more than 5 games to win a set. then u must win multiple set to win the match

You win the point if the ball bounces twice on your opponent's side of the court. (the first bounce must be inside the court, but the second bounce can be anywhere. Other technicalities for winning a point are when the ball hits your opponent in any place except the racket (you win the point even if it hits your opponents hand), if your opponent hits the ball twice with his racket before putting the ball in play, if your opponents shot contacts a permanent fixture (like a light post or the ceiling but not the net) Some good tips for hitting groundstrokes are stand sideways to the net when you hit the ball, keep your racket strings vertical or perpendicular to the ground, make the palm of your hand on your racket aim towards where you want to hit the ball left or right.More Questions & Answers...
