I think you could still work it out w/ a forehand grip. You may just need to work on your follow-through more. Make sure you are fully following through and not letting up at the position where you strike the ball. You may also make sure your wrist is breaking at impact. Don't stiff-wrist it or you'll be long on a hard 1st serve.

if u hold an eastern grip then u might be ok...but if u have a semi western or western forehand...u will never have a good serve with that grip...its not possible to get the pace and spin that a continental serve grip gets u...u can pop it in...but u must force urself to change to a continetal if u want to have a good serve..What female tennis player won Australian open in 2003?

It's really very easy to hit a serve with a continental grip.If you start practsing it like that tomorrow you'll have a better serve in a week or 2 than sticking with the wrong grip.

actually, the forehand grip works well for me. i used to hold the racket so casually when i serve because i'm trying to give it a little slice but after switching it to the forehand grip, i noticed that i rarely miss a first serve. the only issue i have with it is it tends to be a 'T' serve. it's always going to the T section of the court...which isn't bad because my opponent is more towards outside of the court than in the middle..but i'm starting to mix it up more now that more i get used to serving with this gripMore Questions & Answers...
