Tennis pratice?
Question:Hi guys. I am 17, I want to pratice my tennis so I could at least make it to a team when I get to college. So, I'm bouncing the ball on my racket and I wondered why do people bounce the ball on the racket for pratice. We're just hitting the ball right? How does that help. And is there any other thing I could do for pratice.
Thank you very very much!

What is the best racket to use to play tennis?
It helps your eye-hand coordination. It also will help give you a better "feel" for the raquet you are using. Also, it can (if done often and long enough) help build wrist strength and your endurance level. Lastly it can aid in your concentration (i.e keeping your eyes on the ball at all times). If you want more practice I would offer two pieces of advice.
First go to your local public park (with atennis court obviously) and try to get into a pick up game. Often times players will be willing to let you in. It's nice to play different oponents sometimes.
Second, look at the areas around your nearby public school. Many times you can find the perfect "practice wall" - a paved area that runs into the side of a brick building (the outer wall of a gymnasium is a perfect size). I have personally played agaisn the wall for hours on end. I credit it for allowing me to make my high school varsity team as a freshman. the nice thing about the wall is that is never misses - the ball always comes back.
Good luck, and don't give up.
