Mine don't and I've never heard of anything like that but it sounds like you've got other problems than just the ball. Is your skin extra dry? Use a lotion that is non-greasy on your hands over-night with socks or gloves on them to make sure they absorb all of it.

One you have dry hands and need to use lotion and the ball is way to hard. Or 2 if your fingers are spread apart thats fine gives you more angles and control

nothing wrong we finger split open. I hit the ball when fingers spread open, it gives me more control on the ball and I can change from a hit to a dink in no time.
