What can i do to jump higher?


I'm about 5'11 feet and play volleyball. I can spike the ball but not as good as id like because i can't really jump high. How do i improve that?

leg exercises are the key.
wall sits, hill raisers, calf stretches, repeated jumping, jumping up and down bleachers, running in the sand, squats
anything that will build leg muscles will help

First of all you need to be on a weightlifting program to get your legs stronger,so you can apply more force through the ground which in hand propels you higher. OK, you ask what lifts accomplish this feat the fastest and most efficient way is by doing the Olympic lifts: snatch,clean and jerk,power snatch,power clean and jerks, back and front squats,rdl's, and leg curls, plus your low impact plyo's with speed and agility work,and yes do not forget your ab work also. Now with this said you need to find an certified olympic coach in your area so that they may teach you the difficult technique that goes along with these lifts, but once you get the hang of them you will never want to do No other type of lifting!

well one thing that really helps with jumping, is strong legs and make sure to get low to the ground in ur approach and then push ur self up. practice jumping and measureing how far u get. ask a coach or trainer for more help.

Use ankle weights, you can buy them at Academy or any atheletic store. They helped my verticle my 6 inches in 3 months. Just wear them when you run or when your at home.

Jump rope with weight ankles or weight body. our varsity volleyball coach bought a weight body i don't know but its really hard to jump with a weight jacket but it helps becuz once you get use to it u feel lighter. but its dangerous. i suggest jump rope 200 times to 400 times. every twice a week.

I just go by the: step with your right foot, then your left foot, then your right foot, then both together. Then when you bend down to jump, use your arms as your power. Pull then all the way back and swing them out when you jump. This always gets me higher. Then, use your left hand to follow where the ball is going to go, and hit! Well, use your right hand if you are left handed.

jumping is a lot about speed (so says olympic high jump specialists) so focus on some weight lifting like squats and leg extensions

also, dont let anyone bother u with stupid comments on how your legs wont look as pretty, because they will look too big.
They are just know-nothings and should mind their own beeswax!
