Setting Tips?

I need to teach about 40 girls how to set a volleyball and need some ideas on how to teach them how to do it effectively.

What is it like at a juniors volleyball tournament?

Setting:

Setting is always a tough skill to master for most players. Being a setter, you have to move fast, fast enough to give yourself time to prepare for a good set and look over your opponents at the same time.

Keeping the ball in the front of your forehead is the key to success. Keep the ball low and as close to your face as possible. Try not to make contact with the ball too high up. Keeping the ball low give yourself more time to handle the ball for a better set.

At the moment of contact, keep your fingers soft with your thumbs apart from other fingers, push the ball out by fully extending your arms until the ball leaves your hands automatically.

Stand close to the net and try to keep your shoulder perpendicular to the net, set the ball out parallel to the net and try not to create an angle between the ball and the net.

If the pass is far off the net that you have to adjust the set, always face the pole to set forward or with your back facing the pole for the sets behind and adjust the ball to set close to the net.

Happy learning!!

Tough Question for those who really know this sport.?

have them set the ball to each other over the net and control the height and develop the technique from their legs to the tips of their fingers. This will help learn control of the ball and if they set low or palm you will know from hitting the net.

What is the best way to be perfect in school?

I have done many volleyball camps over this summer.
My advice and the coaches were:

Use the tips of your fingers (thumb, index, and middle)
Bring your hands to a triangle like formation
And then bring it apart about an inch
Push your hands straight up towards the ceiling
Get under the ball

Ways to practice:

Get partners and one person can bump it really high, and the partner has to set it back.

Get the girls into a line at postion 6 on the court and throw them each a ball really high, make them set it back to you or the target (target- get the girl at the end of the line to stand next to you to catch the balls, make it like your passing to someone)

There are many ways to practice setting, but these are some of the easier ways for beginners.

I hope my tips and practice ways help you and your girls.

Have fun with setting!

How do you improve your hitting and driving skills?

Have them break into pairs of 2. One girl should lay on her back with her hands ready to set in front of her face. The other girl drops the ball into the other's hands. The girl on the floor should "set" the ball back up to her partner. Switch after a minute or so.

Also, show them how to set using their legs. Otherwise the ball won't get to where it's supposed to be.

What's the easiest way to gain height in ur vertical jump?

have them spread their hands wide above their faces and show them the "window" between the pointer fringers and thumbs.. tell them to look through that and make contact with the ball with only thier fingertips. make only a small wrist twitch and make sure the ball is high and close to the net.

Do you think this is right?

when i was younger my coach always told us to practice setting with the wall. i kind of helps with younger kids
