Volleyball hitter approach? Which is goofy footed and which is normal?

Question:I've been told on a 3 step approach, that you go left-right-left (which I do). But by others I've been told it's the opposite way. So, which is it? Which one is "goofy footed"?

If you have any club experience or coaching experience please say so, so that I can give you a "best answer" rating thing... Thanks!

Why do all boys have to be gross?

I was an All American College VB Player and had a goofy-footed approach. My coach tried to get me to do the opposite way and my power was gone...so he said go back to being GOOFY! The coorect way for a right handed hitter is LRL. I was a middle hitter and approached with a RLR attack. BUT if you do approach this way, you must make sure your body is still turned the correct way in the air. Your body needs to be facing the setter no matter which way you approach! By the way I coached 5 years at the college level as well.

Volleyball help?

in skate an snowboard right foot forward is goofy. The way to test for your dominate foot is stand on a step and lean forward when you loose your balance and put a foot forward to catch you that's the foot you step with first( your dominate foot

What can i do after i get cut in a brutal way?

I have played volleyball for the last 5 years on many different teams and if you are right handed, you go left-right-left. If you are left handed, you go right-left-right. And RLR is goofy, but it all depends really on how its feels to you.

How old is plies?

I can definately see why the LRL stepping works. I played competively in high school and I had a tendency to start on my right foot and while I could spike the ball to the other end of the court, literally, I had a tendency to get under the ball because of the extra step I had to take to make up for taking off on the wrong foot. Getting under the ball literally made the ball go sailing clear across the gym rather than down.

I have a volleyball team & they are having trouble concentrating between plays? How do you keep them focused?

depends on if you want to "hit" the ball or pass it. i played on different teams and sometimes adjusted to the way the coach wanted me to step. one way or another you will have to bring your feet together to push to jump and hit. after all, you have more stength in two legs together to get you off the ground than seperate. mainly however you feel stronger and balanced.

Volleyball tryouts, beginner trying to make JV, need MAJOR help?

The three step is left-right-left and the four step is right-left-right-left this applies to right handed hitters. The steps switch if you are left handed at least that is what i have been taught.

Does anybody know anything about Bojovic Dejan he's playing for Serbian volleyball tim(Vojvodina)?

It depends the one that you were taught is for righties, and the opposite is for left.

Are there any volleyball summer camps around rockville, maryland??

If you are right handed - then the LRL is the correct approach. In doing that, you are making your left shoulder the closest to the net and your right shoulder is back and able to hit at any angle. If you look at how you throw a ball, that is the set up you need to have when you are hitting the ball.

Where can i find illustrations on different hand signals on Volleyball? pls help me thanks?
