Volleyball, why do people assume it is a girl's sport?

Question:Why do people always assume volleyball is a girl's sport when it really isn't. Here is a clip which proves otherwise:

because a lot of girls play the sport just like people think football is a boys sport cause a lot of boys play it.

I don't know how true that is, but then again, I'm a volleyball player. I think maybe indoor volleyball might be considered more of a gil's sport only because of the height of the net, and having to wear knee pads. Whereas beach volleyball (which I think is more associated with men than women) is more of a tougher sport...in the sun, net is higher, only two players, falls hurt more, etc.
