In a semi-squating position, rest your elbows on across your thighs, just above your knees. While in this sitting position, bounce the volleyball downwards using both hands in a setting motion. This will isolate your wrists and allow you to feel the correct setting motion. It also works on getting a "feel" of the ball nestled in your hands.Stand about 3 feet away from a wall and set into the wall. Catch the ball if you need, but eventually work up to setting the ball. This helps to get a lot of repititions setting the ball.
On a basketball court, practice setting into the basket from different angles and locations on the court. This helps with accuracy.
Practice your overhand serving while standing inside the 3 meter line, facing the net. This well help to get your hitting arm at full extension when making contact. It also helps to get you to swing upward, instead of just whacking the ball.
In volleyball how can i work on my vertical jump?
Setting: practice setting my doing very short, light sets over and over. Also, practice setting really far, high ones.Over-hand Serving: If you do not have enough strength to get it over, you can: lift weights to gain strength in your arms, practice throwing volleyballs over the net from the serving line, get a really good serving routine down (ex: reaching back far, bending your knees, pulling your arm around and reaching very high, extend your body til you are on the tips of your toes, and shift all your weight into the ball as you hit it.) Remember to reach really high before you make contact.
