The basic rules of the game of volleyball are actually quite simple. A team must score 15 points to win a game. However, a team must win by at least two points. For example, a game that is at 15-14 must continue until one team has a two point lead. Depending on the age level or league, either the best two-of-three or the best three-of-five games wins the match.

Only the team serving the ball can score a point. If they score, they continue serving. If they fail to score, a "side out" is called and the other team gets the serve. The game is played with six players on a side, three in the front and three in the back. The player on the right side in the back row is the server.

Unlike other sports, in volleyball a player gets to play all six positions. Each time the team gets the ball back to serve, the players rotate one position. They move clockwise during the entire match. Which ever player moves into the right back position, gets to be the next server.

The server must hit the ball either underhand or overhand with one hand from the serving area, behind the endline. The ball must clear the net and come down in bounds on the other side. It cannot touch the net, or a player on the server's side. If the serve is good, and the other team fails to return it, the serving team gets a point and the same player serves again. If the serve is not good, or the serving team fails to return the ball, the other team gets a "side out" and also gets the serve. They do not score a point.

The ball must always be hit before it lands on the court. Each team is allowed up to three hits to return the ball, however the third hit must put the ball over the net. A player is not allowed to hit the ball twice in a row. The ball may be hit with the hands, fists, arms, or any part of the body from the waist up. Catching, scooping or carrying the ball are all not allowed. Some of the most common fouls are reaching over the net to play a ball, a player crossing the center line when the ball is in play, touching the net during play, and a player out of position on the court

that person is wrong, u need to get 25 points per MINI game, a game is made up of 2 mini games, and 3 if one team wins one and the other team wins one also. the 3rd game is only 15 points, you serve and cannot touch the line, or cross over. if ball lands on the line, it is in, if outside of it is out.any thing on the inside is in, and you cant go under the net with anything, not even your hand, if you serve and it goes out it is the other teams ball, if its in and the other team doesnt get it then it is ur teams ball. if you serve it and they touch the ball and it doesnt make it over the net than it is yours, only 3 hits per time it goes over the net, no more, but you can do less. you are supposed to bump, set it, than spike it!

there ya go!

How can I not be sad when...?

There are alot of rules and different game formats! Go to avp or njvb for all the rules. 2 man, 3 man, or 4 man outdoor or grass rules; indoor rules are different from outdoor or beach.

CAN I PLEASE GET INFORMATION ON VOLLEYBALL FOR 9 YEAR OLD GIRLS? rules and techniques for playing the game?

In collegiate vb, the games are best of 5 to 30 points by rallying scoring (if there is a game 5 it is to 15 by rallying scoring). There is also a pursuit rule where if a ball is going out of bound on the other teams side, someone from your team can go around to bring the ball back as long as you have enough touches left and the ball goes back in the same direction (either the left or right of the antenna). The newest player in volleyball, the libero, is basically a defensive specialist that can enter that game at almost any time (and she doesn't count as a substitution). The libero can stay in for three rotations then must go out for at least one play. She also is restricted to setting and attacking behind the 3m line, and when attacking the point of contact can not be about the height of the net. There are many other rules but there are pretty straight forward.
