If he wants to break up there must be a reason, find out the reason...Communication is the best advise I can give. Just don't pretend or play games cause that just causes more issues in the long run.
Other than that do nothing. If he doesn't like you for who you are you can't make him like/love you, well you may be able to for a period of time but really all you are doing is trapping him. Let him go and move on.

Anyone who knows anything about volleyball?

First, you really, really like him, right? Well, show him that. Tell, him. Listen to him and do stuff, like, if he really likes football, watch it with him. Make some comments like, "That ref was soo wrong!" if he gets upset at a ref's call. What does he like? Ice-cream? What kind? Make a date for ice cream, or whatever his favorite food is, and make it a surprise. Just try to do something special based on what he likes. Figure out what he liked about you when you FIRST went out. There must have been something, and I doubt it's changed. Also, don't change too much when you do this. That won't be good. Don't make yourself out to be someone you're not. Good luck!

Oh, and if it's only you doing stuff for him, he's not worth it anyways.
