To today, USA national rules. You have to play to 25 points, must win by 2, its also rally point scoring. Meaning that you can score points on either team's serves. In a match of best 3 out of 5. You must win 3 games to win the match. If the match is tied at 2:2, then the 5th deciding game is played till 15 points, and again you must win by 2.
Outdoors, beach volleyball, you score up to 21 points must win by 2.
Traditional scoring is you must play up to 15 points for all games in a match. But it is side out scoring. You can only score if your team is serving. Again, if the game is tied 14:14 you must win by 2.
In international games, some times you play til 30.
College actually goes to 31. Beach goes to 21. High school goes to 25. And you have to win by 2!
