Well I'm not sure if this goes for everyone, but during football conditioning, basketball conditioning and such the jump rope is most utilized. Some of the guys on my team hopped crooked because it helped them go faster others would just swing their arms really fast and jump straight getting only an inch off the ground. Also, from what I heard from my cousin who boxes, he says jumping up and down in the same spot is bad for the heart and that you should hop side to side
