This depends on your vertical. You are limited by how high that you can reach, and no amount of training can help you hit straight down if you can't reach high.

Things to do
1) Weight train - squats
2) Plyometric training - depth jumps, jump rope - just jump ALOT!! (note: you should be able to squat 2x your weight before you try doing depth jumps)
3) Get someone to toss balls to you and take an approach hit - lots of times.
4) In order to hit down, you need to be able to snap your wrist - the best way to do this is to stay loose and let your arm swing like a whip cracking.
5) Hit DOWN on the ball (you can only do this to balls that are tight to the net unless you can jump touch more than 3 feet above the top of the net).
6) You can practice your snap by hitting against a wall. Best way to do it is to toss a ball to yourself and hit it down reaching as high as you can. Then CATCH it after it bounces off the wall and repeat.

BTW, most good players - I mean REALLY good - don't hit down. Hitting down typically gets you stuff blocked, or dug - I would focus on power - hit it hard, and in the back row and it probably won't come back.

In volleyball, how far back is the base ((serving)) line from the net?

The improve this skill, or any other skill, will require you to practice, practice and practice some more. By practicing, you will discover exactly how and when to hit the ball. You would need to jump when the ball starts to falls.

What are the lifestyle interventions experienced by volleyball players?

well there are ways to make your legs stronger. and it will help with jumping like squats...but if your asking how to get timing...when the ball is at the highest point thats when you go.. and as gfor the hitting down to the line you have to snap your wrist and like get very high at jumping...

OUCH ! I jumped for a real hard spike yesterday in volleyball, how can I help my shoulder??

Sounds like your question refers to timing. Yes, jumping higher helps. Yes, aiming deep instead of trying to hit straight down is good against a good block. However, to address your timing question, try this:

You should be using a 3 or 4 step approach. For your first step, try to take a slow one and then accelerate to the rest of the steps to help you time your hit. Too early? Slow down the next steps. Too late? Just speed it up. If you're asking whether there is a specific time to start your approach (i.e. when the setter gets the ball or right after the setter sets), there definitely is not. You need to work with your setter to have them set you consistently at the same speed/height.

Losing Teams...?

That's like asking "how I can jump higher so I can dunk a basketball"? Some of us may never have the physical ability and/or coordination to hit down to the front line. The only answer that makes sense is practice, practice, practice.

Do you know angelie suya?

timing the volleyball when hitting is very tough.

but doing these can help:
---waiting until the ball is at the apex (highest point)
and
---doing your approch fast (blast off at the right moment)

Volleyball advice?

i use right left roll big big little and site the ball with the opposite hand you hit it with. you take a big step with your foot another with your left and then kinda roll from your heels to your toes and use your knees and jump hold your opposite hand up spot the ball in your hand and hit it snap your wrist but to much if you do it will probably be blocked
