Volleyball tryouts?
Question:Hey yall...volley ball tryouts at my school is pretty soon and i need to start practicing...well i was wondering what kind of stuff coaches usually want you to know how to do in tryouts because last year we didnt have to tryout
I want to make this team more than anything cause it is the only sport i am good at so please help me out

for try outs. you will need to know how to bump a ball how to set a ball. if you are tall enough would have to know how to block and spike the ball. also if you are good when you go for the ball if you know how to dive when someone in the front asks for help. it won't be that hard.P.S. good luck in tryouts and hopefully you will make the team!

How long is the girls volleyball court?
Well, ive been playing Varsity Volleyball now and my couch always tells the kids who inspire to get on Varsity to do one thing. Pass very well. Every single play begins with a pass to your setter. When someone seves it at you, you pass it to your setter. When somebody spikes it at you, you pass it to your setter. If you know how to pass with your forearms and hands better then the other kids, you are already 1 ahead of them. Another good thing couches like to see is your ability to spike. If you have a good spike thats great. But if you dont, just trying or hand passing the ball to a deep corner will tell your couch that you play smart. And no matter what skills one has, playing smart will always win out strengh and ability. Another thing is to just hustle and play your heart out! Coaches usually look for someone who helps others when they're having trouble, people who don't show off, players who do their best all the time and don't goof off, players who know the game, players who are nice, and players who don't suck up to coaches. Also players that are level headed, don't act as if they're the best. I know this all because i've been playing sports teams for my school since grade 2, so i have a lot of experience. good luck at try outs. and one more thing, they don't like people who blame a bad bump or volley or serve on nything. Like for example, if you're serving, and you miss the ball don't say :omg, so and so was distracting me! or nything like that. Also, if you can't do something keep trying and NEVER complain. Coaches will look for a few things:Talent (of course)
Team player
A coachable player (a player that listens to the coaches and uses what they are told)
A go getter (one that never gives up; will do whatever it takes to get the ball up and plays hard til the end - no matter how far they are up or down)
It is a very familiar misconception that the "talent" only will get someone on the team. That isn't true. Talent is a definite plus, but if someone is average, but is willing to do whatever is needed for the better of the team, they will beat out a person that is a better player but isn't so willing to be a team player.
Work on quickness, flexibility and reactions. Speak to the coach and find out what they are looking for, and if they are familiar with your play, what you should work on (that will score you points even before try outs, as well as get you known by the coach), as well as ways to do that. Explore camps (if possible), or go to open gyms where you can play pick up games.

Coaches are looking for good passing, all your serves going over the net, and hustling out on the court.
Always hustle and do what they say. Pay attention to EVERYTHING! And wear a bright colored shirt so they recognize you.
